The Award of Distinction was first presented in 2003. It is now presented annually to a school board member who has demonstrated outstanding service and made a significant contribution to enhance education. The award recognizes current or former board of education members who have provided outstanding service, over a reasonable amount of time, to education, the demonstrable impact of which is visible at the provincial level.
